Jakarta – Residents in Bima in West Nusa Tenggara province attacked the local office of the state electricity company PLN after power went out during the live broadcast of the much-anticipated boxing fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
Electricity went out across Bima on Sunday just as the “fight of the century”, broadcast live on TVOne, was about to begin, according to the local news website kahaba.net.
Hundreds of angry residents descended on the PLN office in Bima on motorbikes and in cars demanding that the power be switched back on.
Some protestors pelted the office with rocks and plastic chairs.
“We’re losing patience with PLN . They said there would be no more outages, but they’re still happening,” a furious resident was quoted as saying by kahaba.net.
The electricity was back on when the bout had entered the fifth round.
